Sustainability

Our footprint

Every paw print leaves a mark.
We're working to make ours lighter.

From the fill in our toys to the box on your porch, sustainability isn't a tagline here — it's a checklist we run through before anything earns a spot in the catalog.

What it means here

Four things we hold every product to.

Sustainability only counts if it survives contact with a real household — so these are checked before anything joins the shop, not added on afterward.

Materials with a conscience

Recycled ocean-bound plastic in toy fill, natural jute and hemp in beds and leashes, zero PVC — ever.

Packaging that disappears kindly

Home-compostable mailers, FSC-certified boxes, and paper tape — no loose plastic void-fill in any shipment.

Give-back, by design

1% of every order funds rescue partners and tree planting — tracked publicly, not buried in a report.

Built to last, not to landfill

Every product is chew- and durability-tested. Fewer replacements bought means less waste made.

In the products

What's actually in your pet's gear.

We ask suppliers where a material came from and where it goes after — if either answer is vague, it doesn't make the cut.

Recycled PET fill & fibre

Toy stuffing and select bedding fibre made from post-consumer plastic bottles diverted before they reach the ocean.

Jute & hemp webbing

Fast-growing, low-water crops used in leashes and mats — no synthetic dyes, no microplastic shed.

Natural rubber & cork

Chew-safe, biodegradable alternatives to synthetic rubber in select toys and feeder mats.

No PVC, ever

PVC is off the approved-materials list entirely — no exceptions, regardless of cost or supplier pressure.

The trail so far

Our sustainability journey, one paw print at a time.

Real milestones, in order — including what we haven't fixed yet.

2019

First rule on the books: no PVC

Two people vetting products at a kitchen table set the first hard line — if it contained PVC, it didn't get listed, no matter how well it sold elsewhere.

2021

Switched to compostable mailers

Every standard shipment moved off plastic poly mailers and onto home-compostable packaging, ahead of most suppliers offering it at scale.

2022

Launched Paws & Planet

1% of every order started routing automatically to rescue partners and a reforestation fund — no opt-in checkbox required.

2024

3,000th tree funded, recycled-fill line launched

Our toy fill moved to recycled ocean-bound plastic across the core range, cutting virgin plastic use in that category by more than half.

2027 GOAL In progress

Fully plastic-free packaging

We're still using plastic tape on oversized boxes and haven't found a compostable replacement that survives transit — actively testing alternatives now.

Beyond the box

Giving back isn't a side project — it's built into every order.

A small, fixed share of every sale moves automatically to partners working on the ground — no year-end campaign needed to make it happen.

  • Rescue & shelter partners for supplies and vet care
  • Reforestation partner — one tree per milestone order
  • Local spay/neuter clinics in underserved areas
